Supreme Court refused to hear a case against California Senate Bill 1172, a bill which bans sexual orientation conversion therapy, on Monday. The case was brought by Liberty Counsel, a Christian legal aid group. They wanted the Supreme Court to step in because although many LGBTQ activists believe that conversion therapy can be harmful, Liberty Counsel argued that there is no scientific evidence to prove the harm. Supreme Court ruled on Monday that employers with religious beliefs against abortion and contraceptives are allowed to exclude contraceptive coverage from their employees’ health care benefits. The issue was brought to court by two separate businesses. Hobby Lobby is a craft store owned by the Greens, a Christian family. In Utah, the Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit ruled against a state ordinance which defined marriage as being only between a man and a woman.
