21 Christians have been kidnapped and are being held hostage by militants who identified themselves as being part of the Islamic State on Monday. Kelvin Cochran, the former fire chief of Atlanta, was fired Tuesday of last week (Jan. 6) after his book, “Who Told You that You Were Naked?” was published and distributed to other employees in the fire department. In the book, he expresses his Christian beliefs, which include his stance that homosexuality is a sin. Initially, Cochran was placed on an unpaid suspension for a month, but was terminated at the end of that suspension period.READ MORE

An overwhelming majority of the 114th Congress, which is preparing to be sworn in on Tuesday, is Christian, according to a study released by the Pew Research Center on Monday. 92 percent of Congress identify themselves as Christian, 57 percent of which identify as Protestant. 31 percent said they are Catholic.READ MORE

After one of YWAM's ships were capsized on Saturday morning, Aaron Bremner, a 24-year-old who was among those on the vessel, has been missing since. The ship was flipped over twice as it encountered rough waves a few miles from shore at Kailua Bay. The coming of the new year also brings good news for undocumented residents in California: all California residents will soon be able to acquire legal driver’s licenses, regardless of immigration status, beginning January 2, 2015.
