Lifeway Research's "State of Theology" 2020 report, published Tuesday, showed that over two-thirds of evangelicals (67%) "strongly disagree" with the idea of gender fluidity. Only one in five (22%) evangelicals in the US believe that gender identity is a choice. A greater proportion of evangelicals (73%) than non-evangelicals (47%) disagreed with this definition of gender. The survey, sponsored by Orlando based Ligonier Ministries, involved 3,002 adults in the US, including 630 professing evangelicals. The State of Theology is Ligonier Ministries' biannual study done in collaboration with Lifeway Research on beliefs about God, the Bible and salvation. Further examining evangelical beliefs, it found that 42% believe that "God accepts the worship of all religions, including Christianity, Judaism, and Islam."READ MORE

An activist atheist organization recently criticized Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy (R) for posting scripture to Twitter and Facebook on weekends. The Freedom From Religion Foundation and Cassidy engaged in a back and forth of tweets and statements following the initial statement from the FFRF. Cassidy's tweets from August are simply quotes from scripture without proselytizing or excessive endorsement of Christianity. The Bible is also the most read book in the world-and not exclusively to Christians-as many find use in the Bible for scholarly research, inspiration, and wisdom. The FFRF wrote that a concerned resident of Louisiana contacted the organization to report that on Sundays, bible verses were being posted to Cassidy's official social media profiles, including Twitter and Facebook.READ MORE

“Baby Lives Matter” mural painted in front of Planned Parenthood then removed

An unknown person painted a large mural that reads "Baby Lives Matter" at a Planned Parenthood location in Charlotte. The mural was seen and recorded from above by WBTV. The station then reached out to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police to inquire about the department's response to the mural. The department responded on Wednesday and reported that CMPD officers went to South Torrence Street responding to a call regarding vandalism in the street. According to the police, the incident is being investigated and they have also notified the Charlotte Department of Transportation. The mural has since been removed as of September 1, 2020.
