After the first case of the Ebola Virus recently occurred within the United States, all of America is under constant fear of the epidemic spreading even further. While President Obama ordered 4,000 U.S. troops to go to West Africa and help battle the disease other cases of Ebola patients have been appearing in D.C. and Texas. Meanwhile, all who came into contact with this patient are under constant surveillance for symptoms.

A patient who was found to have been contaminated by the virus while travelling in Nigeria was detained in a local hospital to begin treatment. The Texas Department of Health reported that around 50 out of 100 people that have directly or even come into direct contact with the most recent Ebola patient in Dallas, Texas have received diagnostics and 10 of them were moved to hospitals for further investigation after the results came out as positive. SBS even reported that the 4 other people this patient lived with are also detained to receive diagnostics.

Medical personnel came to the patient’s apartment to begin to take preventive measures against the epidemic. However, many students, after hearing that the patient from Texas had come into physical contact with several other students refused to go to school for fear of contamination.

Meanwhile, USA Today reported another American who was contaminated by the Ebola virus while travelling in Liberia. The patient, who was not identified is believed to be detained and being treated.

In response to the escalating fear of the virus spreading throughout the United States, President Obama ordered that 4,000 U.S. military personnel be deployed in West Africa to help with helping patients and also to prevent further spreading of the epidemic. Though the Department of Defense had originally announced that it will be sending 3,000 troops, Rear Admiral John Kirby, a Pentagon Spokesperson explained that in light of recent events, the administration decided to dispatch more personnel.

In addition, SBS reported that an NBC cameraman was also contaminated with the Ebola while working in Liberia, and is scheduled to be transported back to the U.S. for treatment. Fear of the Ebola Virus in America is growing with more patients being discovered from both within and outside of the U.S.
