Conservative leaders of the Anglican Church from all over the world refused to accept the Church of England’s proposal to embrace homosexuality. Recently, more liberal leaders of the Church of England (the center of the Anglican Church) proposed that the church should be a more welcoming environment for gays and lesbians.
However, more conservative African Anglican Church ministers refused to accept the new direction proposed by the Church of England. The African leaders expressed their disagreement at GAFCON (Global Anglican Future Conference), which is a worldwide gathering of Anglican Church ministers. Members were especially disappointed at the fact that the nation that founded the Anglican Church is promoting a policy that God is unlikely to be pleased by.
However, this debate over issues such as same sex marriage, and appointing gay or lesbian ministers has actually been going on for a long. The controversy became far more extreme when the American Anglican Church announced that they will officially be allowing gay men to become minsters.
On the other hand, more Third World Countries such as Uganda or Nigeria are maintaining heavier policies against homosexuality, while other nations such as America and the United Kingdom designated these legislations as acts of persecution of human rights.
