On Wednesday night, Justin Bieber announced that he has accepted Christ into his life after attending a Bible study that was held by Pastor Judah Smith with Selena Gomez, his former girlfriend. The Mirror reported that the pop star is trying to slow down his party life and has been witnessed Christian or Bible-related posts on social media.
"Every day we wake God blesses us with new opportunities. Be better. Be great," tweeted Bieber on August 12. Two days later he wrote, "God is good" and "Who is your anchor? God is good @judahsmith."
Over the past year or so, Pastor Carl Lentz of Hilsong New York, has been helping Bieber with his spirituality. He shared that he has been paying special attention to his secular behavior which the 20-year-old pop star has constantly struggled with.
"I love Justin, he's a good kid. He's trying to figure this out," Lentz told CBN. "His behavior ... you know, he's figuring it out. What should we do? … People who are like, 'Is he even a Christian?' With Justin, I tell people grace and acceptance does not mean approval. I can accept you as a human being and not approve of your actions. That's how we've been loved. We love because we were first loved."
The NYC pastor also added that while he is helping Bieber with his faith he is not his police officer but his friend and that is the best to help him spiritually. Other spiritual mentors are believed to be assisting the pop star maintain his faith and turn away from his worldly lifestyle. Last year, it was reported that Bieber was baptized at Lentz’s church.
Judah Smith, the pastor of a megachurch in Seattle shared that he also was there for Justin Bieber and the sins that he struggles with. Pastor Smith was counseling the pop star after the Hollywood Reporter announced that Bieber had slept with a Brazilian prostitute, dishonored the Argentinian flag and illegally tagged a hotel wall.
"He lives a very blessed life, but with those blessings comes a lot of responsibility and expectations from people. Justin is digging deep and discovering. … But he's an extraordinarily compassionate, considerate, loving person who's very loyal and committed to the people in his world. I wish more people saw that side of him." Pastor Smith said.
Smith’s Bible studies that Bieber was believed to have attended attracted other celebrities such as actress Vanessa Hudgens, and Bieber’s mother, Pattie Mallette.
