Actor Robin Williams was discovered dead on Monday in his home in Tiburon reports the local County Sherriff’s Department. The actor-comedian was declared dead on the scene.
William’s publicist passed on the following statement concerning his death: "Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time." However he refused to confirm whether the cause of death really was suicide.
Williams was discovered when local authorities had responded to a call that reported an unconscious man lying in a residence on Paradise Drive on Tiburon.
Williams won an Oscar for his performance in Good Will Hunting with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. He was also praised for other various characters he played in so many successful movies including Mr. Keating in Dead Poets’ Society, August Rush, Flubber, and probably became most well-known for playing the voice of Genie in Disney’s Aladdin series.
He also astounded audiences through playing Teddy Roosevelt in the Night At the Museum series, including a third movie that was scheduled to be released for late December 2014. He had also signed to play his role as Mrs. Doubtfire in a sequel with director Chris Columbus.
Meanwhile, the Marin County Coroner’s Office officially announced that the actor’s death was caused by suicide due to asphyxia.
A message on Twitter was Robin William’s last words left to the public which was a happy birthday message to his daughter Zelda whom he appeared in several movies with. Williams’ wife Susan told the New York Times that she had lost her husband who was also her best friend. She addressed the public through the newspaper that she hopes his fans will not merely mourn over his death but instead try to always remember the joys they received by watching all the characters that were brought to life by William.
