The British Museum recently announced their acquisition of a small Mesopotamian tablet with a cuneiform inscription consisting of instructions to build a large vessel for an anticipated flood. A possible historical record of Noah’s flood had been discovered before it was recorded by Moses in Genesis.

Dr. Irving Finkel is one of the few scholars who are able to read cuneiform, one of the earliest languages in the history of mankind. He revealed in his writings in The Ark Before Noah, that there is also record of a deity which is the source of the instructions. The ship itself would be about two-thirds the size of a soccer field.

Although Irving himself stated that he himself does not believe in the existence of the biblical ark, he nevertheless commented that the tablet is “one of the most important human documents ever.” He also emphasized that he regards the story of Noah’s Ark is by itself a valuable historical source.

British Museum experts are planning to reconstruct the ark by following the instructions on the 4000-year-old Mesopotamian tablet to see if it will result in n a actual vessel.
