Heungmin Son and Minah
Several Korean news agencies including Chosun Ilbo and Yonhap News reported that the rising Korean soccer star Heung-min Song, the winger for Bayer Leverkusen (Bundesliga, Germany) is officially dating with Mina, a member of the popular K-pop group Girls’ Day. Many soccer and Girls’ Day fans have expressed great excitement and surprise at how the two stars got together.
In an interview with YTN (Yonhap News), Son and Mina explained that they first got into contact with each other through social networking, and because the two stars already knew each other very well at least through TV and were fans of each other, they soon became close friends.
Both their fans were very surprised at the news because Son and Mina were working in such different fields and it is very difficult for such people to get in contact. However, many people have posted photos of Son and his new pop star girlfriend going places together holding hands. One eye witness expressed online that she saw Son and Mina walking into a florist’s store together and when the owner asked Son, “Is that your girlfriend?” the soccer player responded with a very confident “yes”.
It is believed that the two have been dating for around 2 to 3 weeks now. Mina’s agency has also confirmed her relationship with the winger, even though many fans have expressed great concern that Son and Mina are still very young and are living extremely busy lives. At the same time, many fans have shown a great deal of interest at how the young stars will grow through the relationship.
Meanwhile, after the retirement of Ji-sung Park, the former Korean EPL player, Heung-min Son is viewed by many experts as the new player who will lead the Korean national team in future tournaments starting with the upcoming Asian Cup. Son returned to Korea with his teammates from Bayer Leverkusen for a game with the K-League All-star team.
Girls’ Day is currently one of the most popular K-pop bands on the Korean charts and has released several hits such as “Darling” and “Something”.
