Clayton Kershaw, the Cy Young Award winning National League pitcher of the Los Angeles Dodgers has joined up with Pastor Tommy Barnett along with some of his fellow Dodgers players and their wives at the L.A. Dream Center to distribute groceries to families in need.

Kershaw is currently recovering from a serious injury and unable to participate in Major League Baseball’s 2014 season. However, that did not stop him from reaching out to the people in need in the city he represents.

Dream Center which is located somewhat nearby the Dodgers Stadium is part of a larger life-long ministry that Kershaw and his wife Ellen have been working on called Kershaw’s Challenge, which endeavors to help families and children get off the streets of L.A. by providing them food and other necessities. The L.A. Dream Center was originally founded by Tommy and Mathew Barnett.

Kershaw’s Challenge also includes other plans to reach the unreached including Strike Out to Serve, where the Cy Young Award winning pitcher has promised to donate 100 dollars for every strike out that season. He also made several visits to Zambia with his wife to help children with HIV and other illnesses.

Kershaw has still not played a single game this season due to an injury he is recovering from. However, the Los Angeles Dodgers are currently ranked first in the National League western division, followed by the Colorado Rockies and the San Francisco Giants.
