Korean American Christian Scholarship Foundation of Greater Washington
The Korean American Christian Scholarship Foundation of Greater Washington has started looking for candidates to receive the 2014 series of scholarship awards. The main targets are second generation Korean Americans who have a passions for studies in theology who are either bound to enroll in divinity schools and even current students of theology.
The foundation will be receiving applicants from all over the nation, and there are several requirements the organization will be looking for among the students who will be considered for an award. Applicants should be baptized before registering and must be known to have shown good example in his or her respective ministries and community. They must also be either be enrolled or admitted to a school of theology recognized by their recognized state governments. In addition, they must be actively participating in spiritual education for 2nd generations, and lastly they must have either a green card or U.S. citizenship.
Alongside with the registration forms, each applicant must also submit two letters of recommendation (one from his or her head pastor and one other) in either English or Korean. They are also required to turn in their transcripts and a testimony of their faith in English. Also, if applicable they must also submit a W-2 form. The Korean American Christian Scholarship Foundation of Greater Washington was established in 1981 with the goal of looking for the next leaders among the 1.5 and 2nd generation Korean Americans amidst the slowly weakening Christian community. For the past 33 years, the foundation has always provided help for students studying to be leaders of the next Christian generation.
Starting from the year 2009, it became evident that the Koran Christian community was greatly lacking in 2nd generation spiritual leaders. The foundation along with immigrant families worked hard to search for and help these new Korean American leaders achieve their goals.
Registration for the 2014 scholarships started on April 14th and will continue until May 17th. Applications will be received via email only. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 14th at 5 pm at the Virginia Presbyterian Church.
