The Chinese made the South Koreans and Allied Forces tremble in fear during the Korean War when tens of thousands of Chinese crossed the border into North Korea until the Allies had no choice but to retreat to Seoul. Thousands of Chinese believers in Zhejiang province gathered to form a human wall to protect the newly built Sanjiang Church from the government’s plan to demolish it.
The South China Morning Post reported that many of the believer in the area expressed that the Christian faith has had a profound and positive impact upon their lives. Though the Chinese government was threatening to bring down the sanctuary which took 6 years to build and over 4 billion dollars, the Christians were still hopeful and emphasized that they were not seeking any kind of violent confrontation.
The government officially announced before that the church will be demolished on April 3rd. When news reached the Christians of Zhejiang Province, thousands of Christians gathered and held sit-ins in front of the church and even held marches and prayer gatherings outside the church and in the streets.
However, the local Christians in China were not the only ones who were wanted the church to remain. One such individual was Ryan Morgan, the regional director of International Christian Concern for East Asia. He had this to say on the issue:
"We call on the authorities in Zhejiang Province to immediately rescind their orders for the demolition of Sanjiang Christian Church. This church was legally constructed and has every right to exist in a nation which strongly claims, at least in the international community, to respect the religious freedom of its citizens.”
China is an officially atheist nation and ranked as one of the most oppressive nation towards Christians.
