Two days ago, the renowned Christian humanitarian organization World Vission officially announced that it will begin to hire married homosexuals as their employees. Now, the organization has announced that it will reverse its new decision after a great deal of criticism from churches and Christians all around America and the world.

Well-known Christian leaders, including Billy Graham and Russell D. Moore (Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Church) expressed outrage at World Vision’s original decision which sparked a great deal of controversy within the Christian community. Billy Graham had this to say on the issue:

"I was shocked today to hear of World Vision's decision to hire employees in same-sex marriages," Graham, the son of renowned evangelist Billy Graham, said in his statement. "The Bible is clear that marriage is between a man and a woman.

World Vision reacted immediately after the great deal of criticism. On Wednesday, World Vision delivered letters to all its supporters which explained, "Today, the World Vision U.S. board publicly reversed its recent decision to change our national employment conduct policy. The board acknowledged they made a mistake and chose to revert to our longstanding conduct policy requiring sexual abstinence for all single employees and faithfulness within the Biblical covenant of marriage between a man and a woman."

Though World Vision has officially declared it will not be hiring married homosexual employees, Richard Stearns, the president of the organization added that World Vision members are composed of Christians from as many as 50 denominations some of whom have sanctioned same-sex marriage. He strongly expressed the desire that their ministry treat all its workers equally.
