Jennifer Connelly, a Hollywood actress who played Noah’s wife Naameh, expressed her view that Paramount’s most recent Bible epic film “Noah” stays true to the original story from the Book of Genesis. On Thursday, Connelly shared her opinions on the controversy over the film on ABC’s “Good morning America”.

“Noah” stirred up a great deal of controversy among believers. A faith driven survey carried out towards Christian movie goers revealed that most believers are not willing support a film project that does not stay loyal to the original biblical account. Paramount filmmakers stated that since Genesis does not provide a great deal of information on Noah’s personal life, there was much room for creativity and imagination.

Jennifer Connelly, however, expressed that most of the controversy arose from Christians who had not yet viewed the movie yet. Aronofsky, the producer of “Noah” supported Connelly’s claim. He stated, “The controversy is all about the unknown and about the fear of people trying to exploit a Bible story. It will all disappear as soon as people start seeing the film.”

Hollywood insiders including Connelly and Aronofsky expressed that though “Noah” does involve a great deal of imagination, the core biblical message was still there. Connelly also added that there is barely any information on her own character, while the entire Noah’s Ark story comprises only a few pages. She described Naamehm as a loyal and devoted woman and she even did some research on women at the time before playing her role, including reading other parts of the Bible for inspiration.

Connelly, also explained that spiritual leaders in America had already expressed their approval and desire to support the project.
