Google has formally announced its plans on launching a YouTube music service that can be used by subscribers for watching music videos and checking out songs of their preference. With the absence of ads, the YouTube Music Key will come with a starting price of $7.99 per month.

When using the phone app, users can still listen to their music while carrying on with other tasks on their devices. Interestingly, despite the absence of an Internet connection, subscribers can still continuously enjoy the music.

Offline listening will also be allowed with which users can easily save their favorite songs onto their device.

The Music Key service will be made available to beta testers starting next week for a lower price whereas its launch date for the entire public is yet to be announced. Beta testers should be residing in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Finland, Portugal or Spain.

Subsequently, the starting price may increase up to $9.99, similar to that of the current Play Music service offered by Google.

A subscription to YouTube's Music Key will guarantee users with all of the features provided by the Play Music service.

Video downloads will also be made available in two formats- the 320p standard definition and the 720p HD. Such clips are required to be stored on the built-in memory of one's device.

Aside from the new music service, YouTube apps on both Apple and Android devices will be update so users can easily track down trending titles and check out recommended music playlists based on their preferences and past activities.

Users can also generate their own playlist comprised of all the available tracks of an artist/group.

All in all, YouTube's Music Key is expected to compete against other music services, such as Spotify and Beats Music.

While Android users are likely to be the first ones to get their hands on unlimited clips-turned-music, Apple devices will follow suit. However, the service will not have a PC version yet.
