Sony is currently holding another sale for players of the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita consoles.
The promo, dubbed as PlayStation Essentials, offers discounts of up to 75 percent. Members of Sony's PlayStation Plus subscription service, on the other hand, can save up to 80 percent on the featured games.
The complete list of titles featured in the sale are posted on the PlayStation Blog. Starting today up to January 18, gamers can choose from over 100 discounted games for their various consoles.
Some of the titles listed for the PlayStation 4 are "Grand Theft Auto V," "Grand Theft Auto V and Whale Shark Cash Card Bundle," "NBA 2K16 Michael Jordan Special Edition," "Batman: Arkham Origins," "Driveclub" and "Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag Gold Edition."
PlayStation 3 owners, on the other hand, get "Need for Speed Rivals Complete Edition," "Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare" and several "Call of Duty Games."
As for Sony's handheld gaming console, players of PlayStation Vita can choose from a variety of games including "Persona 4: Golden," "Rayman Origins," "Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack" and "Child of Light."
Aside from the games, the PlayStation Essentials sale also includes over 70 movies. Some of these include "Anchorman," "22 Jump Street," "American Sniper," "Godzilla," "Fury," "Interstellar," "I Am Legend," "Lucy," "Madagascar," "Ride Along," "Pineapple Express," "Transformers," "Terminator: Genisys" and the "Taken" series.
It seems Sony's PlayStation Essentials is meant to go up against Microsoft's Deals with Gold program for Xbox One and Xbox 360 players. As previously reported, this week's Deals with Gold promo heavily focuses on the "Forza" franchise with discounts on its main games and various DLCs and content updates, according to a post on Xbox Achievements.
Aside from titles from the racing series, other games featured in the sale include "Crysis," Syndicate," "NBA JAM: On Fire Edition," "Another World - 20th Anniversary Edition," "Blue Estate" and the "Jackbox Part Bundle."
But, as noted by Microsoft, only membership holders of the company's Xbox Live Gold subscription service will be able to take advantage of the discounts on the featured games.
Like the PlayStation Essentials, this week's Deals with Gold will also end on Monday next week. But, given the number of discounted games and the public nature of the sale, it seems Sony's offering for the PlayStation platform gamers is a bit better than what Microsoft is currently giving out.
