One of the things that relieved "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" star John Boyega after the film was released was that he is finally able to talk about spoilers concerning J.J. Abrams' masterpiece.
"Yes, at last! Han Solo dies, okay? He dies. Phew. It feels good. But now, we just starting work on 'Star Wars VIII,' the next film, so I'm back to keeping secrets again," he shared during an interview with Vogue UK.
His co-star Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the franchise already raved about the script, and Boyega is singing the same tune.
"It's great. Much darker, but we're very excited," he added.
In the seventh installment, Boyega's character the rogue Stormtrooper Finn did not have any major fight scenes, but Boyega teased that there will be more action for his character in the next film.
"For this film (The Force Awakens) we really just took it scene by scene, there wasn't a huge regime. My part in the next film will be much more physical so I might be in the gym a bit more," he shared.
What bums Boyega about the eighth installment though is that Ford will no longer be a part of it. As a huge "Star Wars" fan growing up, Boyega feels blessed that he got to work with his long-time idol, and he has nothing but positive things to say about the star.
"Harrison is great to work with. It's hard not to admire him, not just as an actor but as a man. He's built an incredible career and being on set with him and learning from him is brilliant. Our characters had quite a lot of scenes together so it worked well that we had a good rapport," he said.
Another actor Boyega looks up to is Robert Downey Jr., who plays Iron Man (a.k.a. Tony Stark) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"We've never worked together but the industry is pretty small," explained Boyega. "I have lots of people around me who've supported and helped me so much and I'm very fortunate that Rob has been one of them."
These two bigwigs in the industry has helped Boyega form a healthy perspective when it comes to acting. A lot of rising stars might have let the fame get to their heads already, but not Boyega.
"Although this franchise is such a massive thing, I've tried my best to approach it as I approach any other job: do the best I can and just focus on the work," noted the actor.
