ABC Family has revealed four new TV spots for ‘Shadowhunters,’ which is set for an official premiere in January.

Based on the young adult fantasy book series ‘The Mortal Instruments’, the story of ‘Shadowhunters’ highlights the life of Clary Fray (Katherine McNamara), who discovers a lot more than what she had ever expected.

On her 18th birthday, Clary learns that she comes from a family of Shadowhunters. Despite remaining as human beings, these creatures have been infused with angel blood and have taken on a main mission that includes hunting down demons.

After Clary’s mother is captured, the 18-year-old has now taken much interest in demon hunting alongside Shadowhunter Jace Wayland (Dominic Sherwood) and her best friend Simon Lewis (Alberto Rosende).

Living amongst supernatural creatures such as vampires and werewolves, Clary now spends her time finding more about who she was in the past and who she will be in the future.

British actor and former ‘Vampire Academy’ star was the first cast member to be announced in joining the spinoff TV series as Jace. For ‘Mortal Instruments’ fans, they have come to know Jace as the best Shadowhunter of his time. Aside from having angel blood in him, his character is known to have greatly enhanced mental and physical abilities and is capable of utilizing heavenly weapons.

In 2013’s ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ film, 26-year-old Jamie Campbell Bower took on the role of Jace.

“’Shadowhunters’ is a big epic saga that will resonate with viewers who come to ABC Family for the ‘Harry Potter,’ ‘Hunger Games,’ and ‘Twilight’ franchises,” ABC Family President Tom Ascheim shared.

Other cast members of the upcoming TV series include Emeraude Toubia as Isabelle Lightwood, Matthew Daddario as Alec Lightwood, Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Garroway, and Harry Shum Jr. as Magnus Bane.

Meanwhile, author Cassandra Clare recently surprised her ‘Shadowhunters’ fans with a magical experience during the ABC Family’s Pop Up Santa appearance in New York City. Over 100 fans from around the country sent in videos to express themselves and explain what ‘Shadowhunters’ means to their lives.

“I had such a hard time watching them,” Clare said in an interview with MTV News. “I couldn’t stop crying while I was watching them. I kept weeping. I literally couldn’t pick somebody. They were all so wonderful. I couldn’t do it. It was too hard.”

Aside from receiving a copy of her highly anticipated novel, ‘Lady Midnight,’ the fans were also treated to the night’s biggest surprise, which was the appearance of the ‘Shadowhunters’ cast members, including McNamara, Sherwood, Rosende, Daddario, Mustafa and Shum, Jr.

“We watched the videos last night, and it was crazy to see how much these characters mean to them and inspire them every day,” Toubia shared.

‘Shadowhunters’ is set to premiere on Jan 12, 2016 on ABC Family.
