Dylan O'Brien will not be exiting ‘Teen Wolf’ any time soon despite speculations claiming that the 24-year-old actor is set to leave the hit MTV series.
Rumors of O’Brien saying goodbye to the show were fueled by reports of the third ‘Maze Runner’ movie getting started with production in February, a period that may be conflicting with the filming for ‘Teen Wolf.’
Both ‘Maze Runner’ director Wes Ball and the Director's Guild of Canada confirmed that ‘Maze Runner: The Death Cure’ is set to be filmed in Vancouver, Canada beginning Feb. 29 until May 31. However, series writer Jeff Davis revealed that it is possible for such dates to still change.
"Despite what you've read those dates are not confirmed," he said, while adding that they "don't have a start date for [season 6] production yet."
Even if the schedules for the production of the ‘Maze Runner’ sequel and the sixth season of ‘Teen Wolf’ do become conflicting, Davis already assured viewers that O’Brien will remain with the MTV series as he is "contracted for both" projects.
"It can be a scheduling nightmare to be honest," the producer explained. "But I think it's hardest on the actor, actually, who can find themselves doing a lot of flying."
While O'Brien is set to reprise his role as Stiles Stilinski for the next season of ‘Teen Wolf,’ Davis has already faced the possibility of the actor exiting the program sometime in the future due to his budding career as a movie star.
"Cast shakeups happen more and more with every show these days. So, you never know," Davis told Forbes magazine following the show’s New York Comic Con panel in October. "The networks used to sign people up for seven seasons. The idea was, you can't lose anyone. Nowadays, it's who can you kill off next? It's very different."
Despite a promising career when it comes to doing movies, O'Brien himself assured his fans that he does not plan of saying goodbye to ‘Teen Wolf.’ The actor also explained that he is looking forward to stay involved in all the stories that are yet to be told in the hit series.
"I'm just very aware of what this show means to me, and I would never, by my own hand, say it's time for me to move on," O'Brien said.
‘Teen Wolf’ Season 5B is set to make its official premiere on Jan. 5 on MTV.
