After ‘Sons of Anarchy’ ended its run in seven seasons, characters such as Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) and Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman) have become well-loved characters among the hit series’ loyal fanbase.
However, fans have been questioning whether they will get to see them once again, especially with reports that a spinoff for the crime drama series is currently in the works.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, series creator Kurt Sutter confirmed that an upcoming TV program related to ‘Sons of Anarchy’ is being developed and that it could draw attention to the rival biker gang, The Mayans.
A number of speculations have then come about, claiming that lead star Hunnam will return to reprise his role as Jax Teller. In a more recent interview with Deadline, Sutter shared details of what fans can look forward to in the upcoming ‘Sons of Anarchy’ spinoff.
“The Mayan thing happened as I was talking to Eric Schrier, one of the FX executives I’ve known since 'The Shield,’” Sutter explained when asked about how they made the Mayans the emphasis of the spinoff series.
"We were talking about the idea of doing things for other markets, like the Spanish-speaking market," he added. "I casually said I’d be open to doing something with the Mayans. It’s the same [biker] subculture, but it’d be interesting to see the influences of that culture and how it impacts the subculture we already understand.”
According to News for Shoppers, however, pushing through with the Sons of Anarchy spinoff about the Mayans might be highly risky.
As ‘Sons of Anarchy’ fans are looking forward to see their favorite characters make a comeback, these appearances will come with risk.
“Don’t get me wrong, Kurt Sutter is good, really good, so it’s not a question of whether or not the show will be good,” the news site stated. “…No matter how meticulous Sutter is, odds are by overlapping the two shows something would get skewed and could compromise SOA’s history.”
Meanwhile, news of the new 20th Century Fox World theme park and resort, which offers rides and attractions from ‘Sons of Anarchy,’ has already trended across Twitter. Other TV shows and movies to be integrated into the theme park include ‘Ice Age,’ ‘Titanic,’ ‘Planet of the Apes,’ and much more.
According to Yahoo TV, one of the things that fans are anticipating is the availability of a “media-based dark ride.”
“Obviously, we want a media-based dark ride, which would feel like you’re truly immersed in the ‘Sons of Anarchy: The Prospect’ game,” the news outlet stated.
