Many users of the Nexus 6P handset that Huawei made for Google are reporting issues related to the device's microphone.
According to the complaints, the issue affects the handset's call features, Digital Trends reported.
Most of those who are experiencing the problem turned to Google's Nexus Help Forum to voice out their complaints.
Based on their posts, it seems the issue with the microphone prevents the other users on the line from hearing them during calls. It also appears that the problem affects both the speakerphone and earpiece modes of the Nexus 6P.
"So I've been making calls and I've noticed that when I try to talk on speakerphone, the other person on the call always complains that they can't hear me," user John43nity posted. "I've found this happening consistently and with other callers too. I'm extremely disappointed and want to know if there is something that can be done."
"While taking to my wife today she could barely hear me and said it sounded like I was very far away or muffled," another user posted. "This was while I had the headset to my ear like normal. If I put it on speaker, she said it would sound okay."
Although a permanent fix for the issue hasn't been released yet, some users said that turning off the noise cancelling feature can solve the problem. This could mean that the Nexus 6P's mic problems might be rooted in a software issue, and not the device's hardware.
According to various sources, Google is already aware of the problem with its latest device and is already investigating it. Hopefully, the tech giant will release a patch soon to fix the issue.
The problem with the Nexus 6P's microphone feature is the latest hurdle facing Google and Huawei. Earlier this month, owners of the device started a thread on Reddit about the Nexus 6P's rear glass window suddenly cracking or breaking, according to Ubergizmo.
"Well that was a surprise ," user jonny_rat posted. "For me, and the cat. It was on a table next to me when I heard the glass snap, leaving a little snowfall of shavings on the table under it. It's now continuing to crack away to itself."
Google released the Nexus 6P on September 29. It serves as the larger counterpart of the Nexus 5X, which was made by LG. The Nexus 6P, however, was supposed to be Huawei's major opportunity to penetrate the U.S. market with the help of a largely successful American brand. However, given the current issues that the Nexus 6P is facing right now, it seems Huawei might have a hard time gaining the trust and support of U.S. consumers.
