If there is one definite scene stealer in Colin Trevorrow's "Jurassic World" film that took all the terror out of the new hybrid dinosaur Indominus Rex, then that would have to be park manager Claire Dearing's use of high heels while trying to run and hide from the dinosaur.
Even up to now, people are still commenting heavily on her shoe of choice, but Bryce Dallas Howard, the actress who portrays Claire in the film said that the same problem will not be had in "Jurassic World 2."
"The way that Colin told me that the sequel was happening, like when it got greenlit and I was going to be in it, he texted me: #NoHeels2018," she told Collider in an interview.
The actress said that she's actually touched that people are very concerned about her character's ability to navigate through the wilderness while wearing high heels. However, she would like people to understand that they simply did not want to compromise the reality of the film by conveniently providing Claire with more comfortable shoes.
"I was like, of course it's illogical for her to be in heels in the jungle," Howard said. "She never intended to go in the jungle. And if she was in flats, that would be a cheat. That would be something where it's like, oh, she managed to get her hands on some flats. No, Claire never thought she was going to end up traipsing through the jungle, let alone outrunning a T-Rex."
In an earlier interview with Yahoo! Movies, Howard said that it is actually much better for her character to sprint in heels than barefoot, as some audiences suggested.
"From a logical standpoint I don't think she would take off her heels," she reasoned. "I don't think she would choose to be barefoot. I don't think she would run faster barefoot in the jungle with vines and stones."
The actress truly believes that people would feel more at ease with any kind of shoes on, even if they are high-heeled, since the feet would be more at risk if people walk or run barefoot.
"I'm better equipped to run when I have shoes on my feet. So that's my perspective on it. I don't think she would carry around flats with her. I think she's somebody who could sprint a marathon in heels," she said.
"Jurassic World 2" has been scheduled to hit theaters on June 22, 2018.
