In the midst of James Bond movie talk, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star Ellen Pompeo took to social media and shared a tweet that scolded actor Daniel Craig after the Bond star made apparently reproachful comments about the popular movie franchise in a recent interview with Time Out London.
“This dude needs a reality check,” the 45-year-old actress wrote, attaching a link to an article about Craig’s controversial remarks.
Pompeo has taken on the titular character on the critically acclaimed ABC medical drama since 2005.
However, the remarks being questioned were merely a part of the actor’s lengthy interview with the publication, thus being taken out of context. After a Twitter follower pointed this out to Pompeo, the actress responded in agreement.
“You are absolutely right!” the actress replied to a fan who was quick to point out that Craig’s comments were possibly “not exactly what he said.” “I certainly have been there.”
When asked if he wanted to work on another Bond film in the near future, the ‘Spectre’ star reacted swiftly.
“Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists,” he said. “No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”
The 47-year-old actor, who made his debut in the popular franchise as the famous agent in 2006’s Casino Royale, also explained that, after having worked on four Bond movies already, he is quite ready to take a break.
“I just want to switch my brain off,” he said of wrapping any major film. “What usually happens is it’s 6 a.m. on a Sunday and I’m bolt upright in bed thinking that I’ve got to go to work. It’s about switching that feeling off, turning the alarm off and going to sleep.”
Craig also offered a piece of advice for actors who might step in to take on the role of Bond in the future.
“… Go for it. Embrace it,” he urged.
There have already been speculations about which actor could be taking the role; these include Damian Lewis, Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender and Idris Elba being rumored to play the highly coveted role in future Bond movies.
As for Pierce Brosnan, who previously took on the role of the fictional secret service agent, he had stirred controversy when he shared his sentiments of wanting the next 007 actor to be white and male.
The 62-year-old actor, whose career was further bolstered after playing Bond from 1994 to 2005 before turning over the role to Craig, stated that 007 should be considered as 'all man'.
“Anything is possible for sure, but I think he'll be male and he'll be white,” Brosnan told the Press Association.
“There's wonderful black actors out there who could be James Bond, and there's no reason why you cannot have a black James Bond,” he further explained about his sentiments on a new Bond actor. “But a female James Bond, no, I think it has to be a male. James Bond is a guy, he's all male. His name is James, his name is James Bond.”
As for the upcoming ‘Spectre’ film, it has been scheduled for an official premiere on Oct. 6.
