The stars of "Game of Thrones" season 6 recently appeared at the show's panel at New York Comic-Con, and they divulged some details about their characters' comings and goings for the highly anticipated next season.
Natalie Dormer, the actress who plays the new queen of the Iron Throne Margaery Tyrell was questioned heavily about her relationship with her mother-in-law Cersei Lannister, according to Variety.
One of the most poignant scenes last season was Cersei's Walk of Shame, and Dormer was asked if her character can handle it the same way Cersei did.
But Dormer only hinted that her character might suffer from some form of punishment of her own next season when she answered, "We're in dangerous territory for the next season if I talk to you about that!"
Dormer then shared her own theory as to why Cersei feels like Margaery is such a threat. Cersei should actually be pleased that her own son Tommen is happy with his marriage to Margaery, but instead of supporting their union, Cersei is trying to get in the way.
"Margaery is trying to be Cersei; she wants to be the mother of the king. She's as talented at the machinations and backstabbing and politics as Cersei..." she said. "It's like the Cold War (between them), mutually assured destruction."
Next season, there will be bigger mountains to climb for these two men, but they will still single each other out.
"They've got new problems, those women... The enemy of my enemy is my friend," the actress said.
Dormer actually thinks that Margaery has no interest ruling as the queen, since she would much rather rule behind the scenes. Her previous husbands - Renly Baratheon and Joffrey Baratheon were both killed because of their positions, and Margaery sees the danger in being the known ruler.
This is why she is perfectly happy with her marriage to Tommen - because he dotes on her, she gets to rule through him.
"I genuinely think Margaery wants to be the power behind the throne - she wants to marry the king, have a baby and be like Cersei... It's safer to be the power than be on the throne," she explained.
However, Margaery's fate still remains a mystery. After being locked up last season for lying for her brother Loras Tyrell, Margaery's release still has not been secured and her husband Tommen has worried himself sick over her imprisonment.
