Blaine DeBeers will be playing in a whole different ball park when "iZombie" season 2 returns since his nemesis Liv Moore just turned him back into a human, while her former fiance Major Lily-Lilywhite blew up his food business and killed his cohorts.
There is no doubt that Blaine (played by David Anders) did a lot of nasty things in season 1, but he's a bad guy that fans just seem to love. And according to the show's executive producer Diane Ruggiero-Wright, season 2 will be giving more fans to dote on the character.
When asked by Collider if there is any redemption in store for Blaine, Ruggiero-Wright used a once-hated "Game of Thrones" character in comparison.
"Look at Jaime Lannister. Tell me you're not rooting for Jaime Lannister. He pushed a kid out of a window, and then the second he saved Brienne from getting raped, you're like, 'I love him!' I think anyone can be redeemed, if you do it the right way," she said.
The same can be said for Eric in the vampire television series "True Blood," she said, since he did a lot of horrible things and yet fans want him to end up with lead character Sookie Stackhouse.
"I think if the audience has a compelling enough character and it's written in the right way, they can be redeemed. I'm just such a huge David Anders fan that I would want to see him do anything," she said.
People might think that Blaine will be in a tough spot come season 2 given that he's lost everything he's tried hard to build, but Ruggiero-Wright told fans not to worry too much about him.
"Blaine is an ambitious bad guy. When he became a zombie, he found his niche. Now that he's had some success, he will continue in new and interesting ways. He's adaptable," she said.
She actually thinks that Blaine is pretty happy being a human again because he can enjoy food once again and do a lot of things he could not do as a zombie.
"Being a zombie is a drag," she added. "Not only do you have to eat brains, but you have to have all of those thoughts from all of those personalities. That's such a pain in the (expletive). So, I think he's relieved, especially if he can parlay the money he made into a bigger scheme. I think he's going to be feeling pretty good about it."
