Hasbro Studios has finally opened up about their progress when it comes to the next ten years of the Transformers franchise, revealing to fans that plans have already been finalized for the next decade.

Speaking to a Cannes audience last Oct. 3, Stephen Davis announced that the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth ‘Transformers’ movies are already in the works alongside a new TV series.

"You’re going to see a new Transformers movie coming from Hasbro and Paramount and Michael Bay and our other partners," he said. “We decided that we wanted to plot out the next 10 years of Transformers... Similarly, we are doing the same in television and in digital. So stay tuned, Transformers 5 is on its way, and 6 and 7 and 8.”

The announcement comes after news broke earlier this year that the Transformers franchise had assembled a "writers' room" to come up with ideas and screenplays for upcoming sequels and spin-off films.

Akiva Goldsman, who has famously worked on ‘The Da Vinci Code,’ ‘A Beautiful Mind’ and ‘I Am Legend,’ will reportedly take on the lead in the "writers' room.” He has already been joined by ‘The Walking Dead’ comic book and TV series creator Robert Kirkman and ‘Lost’/’The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ writer Jeff Pinkner.

Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (‘Iron Man,’ ‘Punisher: War Zone’) and Zak Penn (‘Pacific Rim 2,’ ‘The Incredible Hulk’) have also been recruited for the writers’ group.

"We think there’s any number of stories to be told. It’s a brand that’s been around for 30 years with amazing canon and mythology,” Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner explained. “We would expect the sequel to the‘Transformers’ movie to happen in 2017.”

The Hasbro executive also stated the company’s plans of retaining a high level of brand equity when it comes to its comic book business as well as its TV and digital gaming business to uphold future 'Transformers' movies.

Michael Bay has already been confirmed to return and helm the upcoming sequel to ‘Age Of Extinction.’

The fourth installment, starring Mark Wahlberg, was released last year and turned out to be the second movie in the popular franchise to rake in more than $1 billion worldwide. The actor has already confirmed that he will return to reprise his role for the upcoming sequel.

‘Transformers 5’ will make its way to cinemas in 2017.
