A familiar face will be returning to "Downton Abbey" season 6 next week, and she's none other than Anna's best friend and fellow house maid Gwen Dawson (played by Rose Leslie).
Leslie, who also starred as Jon Snow's love interest Ygritte in "Game of Thrones" left her work in Downton Abbey to pursue a career as a secretary. With the help of Lady Sybil, she managed to land a job just before war was declared on Germany. Little is known of her character's outcome, save for the fact that she was finally married, according to the letter she wrote to Mrs. Hughes in season 4.
According to Radio Times, it looks like Gwen finally levelled up in life since she used the main door and not the servant's entrance to get inside Downton Abbey.
Her return will certainly make a lot of people happy, especially Anna, but Thomas looks like he isn't thrilled with her return. He even took slight when Gwen decided to ring the main door: "She hasn't got time to greet her old friends, then," he said.
When asked earlier about her possible return in "Downton Abbey," Leslie dismissed the rumors. "We left my character in a very happy place, married, out of domestic service and living the life she always wanted," she said, so there's no need for her to return.
Little is known what she will be doing back in Downton Abbey though, since she's already late for Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes' wedding.
As for her role in "Game of Thrones," Leslie was first introduced as Ygritte in season 2. She fell in love with Snow and even popularized the line, "You know nothing, Jon Snow." However, after he betrayed her trust, she spent the next few seasons trying to kill him.
She got her chance in season 4, but she did not push through with it. Instead, she was the one who died. Leslie said that the last day of filming was very difficult for her.
"The production were incredibly thoughtful and considerate and they decided to make that scene whereby I die in Jon Snow's arms be my final day, for that to be it for me, my complete wrap," she shared. "Of course, when we had finally finished shooting the scene, I was very, very touched and I just broke down in tears. I cried through that evening and just was going around and hugging everyone and telling them how much I enjoyed my experience and how much I loved them, really. I went so over the top."
