"Castle" season 8 really hit a major road bump when Captain Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) decided to leave her husband Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) in order to do some soul-searching.
Castle was adamant that Beckett stay so they can fix the problem together, but Beckett insisted on being away, saying that she needed to do it in order to save their marriage.
Her decision caused fans to panic that Castle and Beckett might end up getting a divorce, but "Castle" showrunners Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter is assuring everyone that the power couple will stay married to one another.
"The reality is they've really been together since season five," Hawley told The Hollywood Reporter. "The wedding was last season, but as a couple they've been together and happy for several seasons now. For us we thought, 'Let's throw an obstacle in their way.' Nobody's getting divorced. They're not splitting up forever."
Despite her sudden departure, Beckett will still continue working as captain of the 12th Precinct, while Castle will be concentrating on his his P.I. business, most likely with the help of his daughter Alexis.
"She really just asked him (Castle) for time," Hawley further explained, saying that Beckett is secretly investigating the assassins of her former colleagues so she can finally get peace of mind and move on with her life without fear of harming those she loves.
"At the end of the day she's doing it out of love," said Winter. "She's doing it to protect Castle, not to see if she is interested in other people or thinking maybe they went too fast or he isn't what she wants anymore. Castle's definitely what she wants and she's willing to fight for it."
Both Hawley and Winter also told fans that they will still see Castle and Beckett together despite their split.
"What we'll see in episode three is (Castle's) realized the way I can get my wife back is by doing the same thing he did when they fell in love the first time - work cases with her," Winter said. "He finds a way to worm his way into her cases. What ends up happening is, of course, we get to a place where Castle and Beckett are building theory together, figuring out who's behind whatever the murder of the week is. We get to see little pieces of that electricity we haven't gotten to see for awhile now."
