Amy Farrah Fowler is now a free agent now that she has split up from her long-time boyfriend Dr. Sheldon Cooper in "The Big Bang Theory" season 9.
Now that she is single, the dating pool is finally open to Amy, and Mayim Bialik, the actress who plays her is already mulling the possibilities of Amy's future dates.
"There's kind of two sets of opinions on if Amy were to date - which way we should go," Bialik told E! News. "Some people think we should go super hunky, really against type from what Sheldon is and from what we think of Amy, but part of me also feels like it's okay to keep it a little bit real in that someone like Amy probably would pursue someone - not that attractive people can't be intellectual - but pursue someone in her field, who generally speaking, might not be that concerned with appearance."
People are already fantasizing about pairing Amy up with someone buff and good looking, but Bialik does not think that it's very realistic.
"I don't think we will be seeing Ryan Gosling shirtless or really anyone shirtless. Everyone's shirts tend to stay on in Amy's world," she laughingly said.
Bialik also mulled about the possibility of Sheldon (played by Jim Parsons) ending up with someone other than Amy, if things really do not work out between them. It would be interesting, she said, if he ends up with someone like his roommate Leonard's wife Penny (played by Kaley Cuoco) since she is his exact opposite.
"I don't know who I would pick for Sheldon. I feel like on the one hand I would love something like the contrast of a Penny type. I think that would be really good for laughs and for comedy," she said. "But, as the person who plays Amy that would be hard too. I like that on our show we do show other female scientists besides Amy, and we show different kinds of female scientists."
So Bialik said that Sheldon might be better matched with someone like Howard's wife Bernadette (played by Melissa Rauch) since she is both smart and beautiful. At the same time, she is very strict and firm on the things she wants, therefore she will not tolerate any shenanigan from Sheldon.
"I think honestly that might be interesting to see Sheldon with more of a Bernadette type scientist," Bialik said.
