'Grey's Anatomy’ season 12 is set to air its second episode on Thursday night, and is expected to feature Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) as the new chief of surgery at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

In the upcoming episode titled ‘Walking Tall,’ the Grey Sloan doctors will remember the authoritative attitude exhibited by Dr. Bailey in the first few seasons of the hit medical drama.

ABC has already released the synopsis for the second episode of season 12, and fans can expect that, no thanks to Dr. Bailey’s new title, she will become more assertive and commanding than usual.

In the previous episode, Wilson's character had been in competition with another candidate for chief of surgery, who Dr. Catherine Avery (Debbie Allen) was supporting. In the initial stage, Dr. Bailey showed her confidence of obtaining the position. However, later on, she came to realize that her rival had been as fierce.

Fortunately, after sharing some wise words while inside the operating room, Dr. Bailey was recognized as an impressive contender by Catherine and Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.). As such, she then became the new chief of surgery.

A teaser trailer for ‘Walking Tall’, showing Dr. Bailey gloating about her new position, has also been released.

"I should be chief... Oh wait, I already am," she said.

Several doctors were taken aback by her comment and immediately responded disapprovingly. Callie (Sara Ramirez) said, "You know what they used to call her? The Nazi!"

She also asked Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) if he can go back to being their chief of surgery again.

Moreover, Dr. Bailey has already been found annoying by Catherine’s own son, Jackson Avery.

At some point in one of their discussions, the two doctors were exchanging opposing opinions, and Jackson openly criticized Dr. Bailey.

"You're impossible!" he said.

"Oh, I know you didn't say impossible!" she answered.

As for how Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), the new season is expected to follow her story as she settles in and adjusts to Maggie (Kelly McCreary) and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) as her new housemates.

The female trio is likely to put a fun element forward because of their different personalities.

Following the death of Meredith’s husband Dr. Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), Amelia hopes to find reassurance and support from Owen. As for Maggie, she will start to value more her relationship with Meredith.

'Grey's Anatomy' season 12 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
