Recently, Day of Prayer for Peace in Jerusalem has partnered with the application Instapray. Day of Prayer for Peace in Jerusalem, or DPPJ, is the largest prayer movement for Israel in history. Currently, the organization is planning a large event on October 5, 2014 (the first Sunday of every October) to join with other Christian believers in a time of prayer for Jerusalem. The last meeting (October 6, 2013) was held across more than 175 nations with an eclectic gathering of millions of Christians spanning across denominations and backgrounds.

The event is a full day of prayer where Christians join together through telephones, VOIP, or other methods of communication in order to pray for peace in Jerusalem.

Instapray enhances this event by utilizing its social media qualities to unite Christians for the sole purpose of unified prayer. This is the first time DPPJ is uniting with Instapray and its founders are hopeful.

According to an article by Christian News Wire, Robert Stearns the founder of DPPJ said, “Our goal has always been to mobilize Christians around the world to fulfill our biblical mandate from Psalm 122:6 to 'pray for the peace of Jerusalem.' This partnership with Instapray will open up a new avenue for believers to lift up prayer in this critical moment in our world.”

According to DPPJ’s website, “We set aside this one day each year to raise global awareness and intercession for G-d's purposes in Israel, knowing that this hour in history is critical and our authority in prayer is great. Though we pray every day for Israel, we seek on this day to unite believers around the world in raising a cry to Heaven on behalf of this troubled, but strategic land and its people. We believe in G-d's promises for His beloved nation and fervently pray to hasten the day when He brings fulfillment to His word.”

DPPJ started back in 2002 and has been growing since. The concept of a large prayer movement for Jerusalem was born from the conflict surround Jerusalem and the lack of resolution, despite numerous efforts made by international leaders and politicians. DPPJ claims that perhaps the method that’s most effective is the simplest, prayer.
