Major publisher Electronic Arts has confirmed that the first-person shooter "Battlefield Hardline" will debut on EA Access next month.
This means Xbox One owners will be able to play the game for free as long as they have an active EA Access subscription, according to Games Radar.
News about the game's inclusion in EA Access' The Vault were originally considered as rumors after a Reddit user spotted in on the subscription service's website.
But, days after the leak, EA came forward and announced via Twitter that "Battlefield Hardline" will be available on EA Access starting in October. The company, however, did not provide a specific date regarding the game's launch.
"'Battlefield Hardline' breaks into The Vault for EA Access members this October," EA tweeted. "Get your crew ready!"
The game will be joining other premium titles currently being offered by EA for free to Xbox One gamers. EA Access' lineup of free games includes "Battlefield 4," "Dragon Age: Inquisition," "EA Sports UFC," "FIFA 14," "FIFA 15," "Madden NFL 15," "Madden NFL 25," "Need for Speed: Rivals," "NBA Live 15," "NHL 15," "Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare," "Peggle 2" and "Titanfall."
As previously mentioned, the subscript to EA Access is only available for Xbox One gamers. Those who would like to become a member can sign up for $5 a month or $30 a year. Aside from getting free games, subscribers are also entitled to play EA games five days before their public release as well as a 10 percent discount on all digital content from the publisher, Gamespot reported.
"Battlefield Hardline" was officially released by development studio Visceral Games in March of this year. It is available for the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms.
Although the game is technically part of the "Battlefield" series, "Hardline" deviates from the franchise's theme of military warfare. Unlike other titles from the series, the game focuses on law enforcers, criminal organizations and urban crime.
The single-player campaign mode of the game focuses on Nick Mendoza, a newly promoted detective and his partner Khai Minh Dao. As law enforcers, they go around the streets of Miami to track down the individuals behind the drug supply chain in the city.
The game also offers other modes that put players in the shoes of criminals. In these modes, players must successfully execute a heist or prevent S.W.A.T. officers from rescuing the hostages.
