"Scream Queens" has finally made its way to the small screen, but many viewers who don't have the appetite for blood and gore still seem apprehensive to watch the show after seeing all of its characters looking mischievous with their hands all covered in blood, or screaming in fear.
But Skyler Samuels, the actress who plays new Kappa Kappa Tau's new pledge Grade Gardener can assure people that "Scream Queens" will deliver more laughs than chills.
"If you look at the billboards and advertisements that are coming out, it's dark and it's bloody, but first and foremost, 'Scream Queens' is a comedy. It is absolutely hysterical, page to page, and you will be laughing," she told Collider during an interview. "As someone, myself, who's not particularly keen on horror, I'm a fright light kind of gal. I like just enough that I can get my fix, but it's not going to keep me up at night and give me nightmares, and this is the perfect show for that kind of person."
Samuels did say that there will be blood and gore, but it will be done in a fun, campy way so fans need not worry about being completely scared. She added that the same level of horror found in their new show is not similar to the one delivered by Ryan Murphy's other series "American Horror Story."
"It is a complicated show to explain, even more so because we have to keep our lips sealed. We have all these secrets that we can't share. I just want the episodes to air already, so that we can talk about it," she said.
Samuels shared that she had such a fantastic time on the set of "Scream Queens" that if Murphy called her up saying he would be making another show without giving her any details about it, she would immediately jump at the chance to be a part of it.
"There's no set like a Ryan Murphy set, mainly because it feels like he's built an entire world, he's so thoughtful and meticulous, and every detail is thought about and cared for," she gushed. "They do such an amazing job of making sure that every detail is accounted for, and it's a thrill to be involved, as an actor. They write amazing characters."
Even though the show is all about the comedy, Samuels said that they managed to infuse some heavy issues into it. Each character has to deal with their own struggles. As for her character Grace, she has an overprotective dad named Wes (played by Oliver Hudson) and sometimes he can get a little bit intense.
