Fans really can't get enough of Carrie Bradshaw and her girls Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte, and that is why several years after "Sex and the City 2," people are still clamouring to see more of the foursome strut their fashionable outfits on the big screen.

When Sarah Jessica Parker, the actress who played the character of Bradshaw let slip recently that there might be a "Sex and the City 3" in the works, fans were so overjoyed that many began speculating when it will begin, what it will be about, and who will be in it.

But it seemed like fans overreacted to Parker's statement, so she tried to be clear during the TODAY show with Matt Lauer when he asked her what the "final decision" is on the hypothetical sequel.

"There is no decision," Parker said. "It remains a not-often-had conversation. I know - and writer-director Michael Patrick King knows well - the story we might tell, if we ever tell it. But the real truth, and I'm not being cagey, is we've not discussed a when."

When further asked if "Sex and the City 3" is on the front burner, back burner, or no burner at all, she added: "There's no oven. It's such a hard question to answer because everybody reads and projects so much into what I say. There is a story. When and if we tell it remains unknown."

Parker might not like to get fans' hopes up, but King, who directed the first two "Sex and the City" movies did say earlier on that there is still something left to tell about the girls' stories.

He told Entertainment Weekly last year, "It's all really about the stories, and if you actually think you have something left to say that would make it exciting and worthwhile for the fans' time, that's really the question. It's really like, is there enough or more to say that would justify people risking seeing their favorite characters again? And I think there's one chapter left."

During "Sex and the City 2," all the girls were married save for Samantha, who was still enjoying single life. Carrie felt like her relationship with Mr. Big is in the doldrums since the romance has gone, while Charlotte is worried about the threat of a hot nanny. Miranda, on the other hand, quit her job at the law firm, and together, all four of them tried to forget their daily struggles and enjoy a fun-filled vacation at Abu Dhabi.
