After months of widespread speculations, it seems that Jon Snow could be alive indeed, with the details being revealed by Kit Harington himself.
Despite the actor and the ‘Game of Thrones’ showrunners themselves confirming the demise of the Night's Watch Lord Commander in past interviews, Harington accidentally opened up about the possibilities in an interview with a Dutch magazine.
Harington, who takes on the role of Jon Snow on the critically acclaimed HBO fantasy drama, sat down with Belgian magazine Humo to promote his film ‘Testament of Youth.’
‘Game of Thrones’ was then mentioned at one point during the interview.
When asked if he would make a comeback for the sixth season after his well-loved character was apparently stabbed to death by his Night's Watch brothers in the season five finale, the British actor spilled a cryptic answer, according to a Redditor who was able to make translations of certain portions of the Dutch interview into English.
After sharing how the show has become a "double-edged sword" for his career, Harington inadvertently explained a bit about how long he will be staying on the TV program.
"I often felt frustrated as well," Harington explained. "I had to pass on amazing parts because I was attached to 'Game of Thrones.' So the show is like a double-edged sword to me. I owe a lot to it, but at the same time, it has almost completely drained me."
"Oh well, I try not to think about it too much," the 28-year-old actor added. "The important thing is that I now know exactly how long I am still under contract."
At that point, the interviewer asked, "How many more seasons would that be?"
To which the actor replied, "Nice try. I can't talk about that. Let's just say that 'Game of Thrones' will remain a part of my life for a while. I'll probably be in my thirties when it's over. One thing's for sure: the day I'm no longer on 'Thrones' is the day I'll bury myself in movie projects.”
HBO programming president Michael Lombardo announced at the Television Critics Association summer press tour last July that ‘Game of Thrones’ showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss "are feeling there are two more years after season 6."
Meanwhile, the latest reports have stated that the Bastard of Winterfell will not only make a comeback next season; he will return with retribution in mind.
Sources have claimed that Harington was recently spotted filming a scene that is supposed to be a part of a "massive battle" sequence in Saintfield, Northern Ireland.
According to community site Watchers on the Wall, the huge battle, which is likely to be featured in the ninth episode of the sixth installment, will involve many northern armies battling it out, such as House Umber, House Bolton, even the wildlings and other groups.
Comicbook.com has also speculated that Jon's supposed death may have released him from his obligation to work for the Night's Watch, allowing his character to finally seek vengeance and let the Boltons pay for betraying House Stark.
‘Game of Thrones’ season six is expected to premiere in April 2016 on HBO.
