Ron Perlman has been actively drumming up interest for "Hellboy 3," even as the movie suffers from pre-production and development struggles. Perlman himself admitted that he is done portraying the red-horned character.

But after talking to director Guillermo del Toro and learning about the vision he has for the last film in the trilogy, Perlman cannot help but admire its genius and said that it definitely deserves its time on the big screen.

"I really feel as though I'm done with the character," he told Empire Online. "I don't have a burning desire to put that (expletive) on again. But Guillermo told me what the resolve of the trilogy would look like, in broad strokes, and it's such an amazingly theatrical, cinematic idea, that I found it essential that we do it. We were designed to be a trilogy, with a beginning, a middle and an end. We've only done two-thirds, so I feel that we're not really done until we finish it."

Perlman tried to remain mysterious when asked about the details of the last film, but after a bit of insistence, his lips finally loosened up a bit. The actor said that Hellboy will become "the beast of the Apocalypse" and he will take down civilization.

"He has to. It's non-negotiable," he said. "That's the foundation for the story, and that's why I think it would be a shame if we don't do it."

However, despite the destruction of civilization, Perlman assured fans that "Hellboy 3" will actually end in a happy, positive note. Hellboy will become a father as his girlfriend Liz Sherman (played by Selma Blair) is pregnant - with twins, no less.

The last scene would show Hellboy, who is all smiles when he learns of the news. Plus, Hellboy and Liz's twin babies might even open up the possibility of a new saga, and they already have ideas as to where the babies' stories will head over to.

"I'll tell you this," Perlman teased. "The two twins: one would look like the mum and one would look like the dad. And one of them was going to be completely (expletive) corrupt, the other one angelic. Which one was which? Only Guillermo would make the (expletive)-up-looking one be the angel. So then that adds to the saga."

The last Hellboy film, which is titled "Hellboy II: The Golden Army" was last shown back in 2008.
