Award-winning actress Anne Hathaway hardly seems like an old lady, even in Hollywood standards where young women are being coveted while older actresses are being tossed aside for good roles. The issue of ageism has really hounded the industry and has affected even the best in their craft, and it looks like Hathaway did not escape its stinging effects either.

Luckily, though, the actress simply took it with a grain of salt. During an interview with Glamour Magazine UK, Hathaway said that when she turned 30, the tides have turned for her as far as getting roles are concerned.

"I can't complain about it because I benefitted from it. When I was in my early twenties, parts would be written for women in their fifties and I would get them. And now I'm in my early thirties and I'm like, 'Why did that 24 year old get that part?' I was that 24 year old once, I can't be upset about it, it's the way things are," she said.

Hathaway is fortunate that she was able to nab a lot of good roles during her younger years, and that is why she has no trouble moving forward in the industry. Her breakout role was playing the spirited teenager Mia Thermopolis in the Disney franchise film "The Princess Diaries." After that, she starred in several other films such as "Brokeback Mountain," "Becoming Jane," "Interstellar," "Alice in Wonderland," "The Dark Knight Rises," and "Les Miserables," among many others.

In fact, for playing Fantine in "Les Miserables," Hathaway received rave reviews and she won the Golden Globe Award, the Screen Actors Guild Award, the BAFTA Award and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress because of it.

"All I can do right now is think that thankfully you have built up perhaps a little bit of cachet and can tell stories that interest you and if people go to see them you'll be allowed to make more," she added.

During the same interview, Hathaway expressed her admiration for a young but promising talent - Taylor Swift. They actually met when the singer was only 20 years old and dating Hathaway's "Brokeback Mountain" co-star Jake Gyllenhaal. It was such a short meeting but apparently, Swift made quite the impression on Hathaway.

"She just seems to be following her heart. I was like, 'You are a magnificent creature.' She was on fire and I've watched her become this force of nature," she gushed.
