The Galaxy Tab S2, Samsung's latest offering from its premium tablet line can now be ordered in the U.S. The device will also be available through network carriers starting on Sept. 3.
Samsung's latest device comes in 8.0 and 9.7-inch display variants. The Wi-Fi-only version of the two models can now be pre-ordered from the company's U.S. online store. The smaller model costs $399.99 while the 9.7-inch variant can be purchased for $499.99.
As GSM Arena noted, the Galaxy Tab S2 is also expected to debut through other retailers such as Best Buy and Amazon soon.
Alternatively, those looking to get the 4G LTE version of the tablet can wait until next week to order the device from network carriers.
T-Mobile will be offering the 9.7-inch model with LTE support at a full price of $649.99 starting Sept. 3. This is equivalent to 23 monthly installments of $27.09 with a final payment of $26.92.
AT&T, on the other hand, will debut the same version on Sept. 4. It can be purchased for $499.99 with a two year contract or regular payments of $30 for 20 months.
As for its specs, the Galaxy Tab S2 has a screen resolution of 2048x1536 pixels. It packs an internal storage of 32 or 64GB, which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
The device is powered by Samsung's Exynos 5433 chipset and comes with 3GB of RAM. It houses an 8-megapixel rear camera paired with a 2.1-megapixel selfie snapper.
It runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop as its stock operating system. The 9.7-inch model comes with a 5,870 mAh battery, which can provide up to eight hours of continued online use, according to CNET. The smaller variant, on the other hand, will feature a battery capacity of 4,000 mAh.
As reviewed by Venture Beat, the Galaxy Tab S2 has a very lightweight design at only 13.8 ounces. It is also thinner than its predecessor by 16 percent. The new model has a thickness of 5.6mm while the Galaxy Tab 8.4 and 10.1 measure 6.6mm.
The site noted that the tablet's chipset performs well. With an octa-core processor, the tablet can handle multiple tasks at the same time such as running apps, opening emails and streaming videos without lagging.
It also comes with various pre-installed Microsoft apps such as OneNote, PowerPoint, Excel and Word. However, users will have to first download an update to access these applications.
