Taylor Swift has been widely known as someone who proudly proclaims her quirks. While a number of people might find her odd and awkward, the "Bad Blood" singer embraces her weirdness and even goes on to share her peculiar behavior with her millions of followers. Apart from that, Swift has been highly popular for her openness in terms of addressing the concerns raised by her fans - be it about their pet cats, love lives or friendship issues. This time around, however, one particular concern brought the "Swifties" together and pushed them to confront their idol: the awkward dance movements Swift does in awards shows.
Taking their concern to Tumblr, the fans and followers of Swift posted a GIF of the "Shake It Off" star seemingly lost in her own world as Ed Sheeran gives her an astonished look. While the other people around appear to be oblivious to her random dancing, her legions of fans are baffled. To remedy the situation, Swift's Tumblr account was tagged and asked: "What do you call this dance move, Taylor?"
As always, Swift did not disappoint. Taking the question seriously, the "Blank Space" singer explained at length the awkward dance move she usually does in award shows. Swift wrote: "The Mom-Croon - (noun) A dance move invented at the 2014 Grammy Awards." She then went on to provide a description for the dance more and said, "To sway, perform, and sing along to a song in an extremely emotional or sentimental way, possibly incorporating hand gestures."
"Eyes closed, lost in the music. The way your mom gets taken away by a tune from her high school days, glass of red wine in hand, shuffling around the room as her teenage kids roll their eyes in disdain," Swift explained, referring to a very visual representation of her dance move. Presumably as an advance jab at haters, she added, "Cynics may judge the Mom-Crooners (MC's as they are commonly referred to in the dance world) as it is a form of dance only perfected by those willing to be absolutely swept away by the feels you get when you hear a certain song. Those who know how to Mom Croon cannot see the eye rolls of haters. They have reached a level of musical transcendence that is hater-proof. Once you perfect the mom croon, you are truly free."
To further expound on "The Mom-Croon," Swift provided an example. She wrote, "Used in a sentence: 'Oh look, Taylor's being embarrassing again- just mom-crooning away in the corner by herself because Sometimes by Britney Spears came on. Oh God. Now she's crying.'"
