Ubisoft has decided to delay the release of the upcoming tactical shooter "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege" by a couple of months.

Instead of debuting in October, the game will now come out in December of this year, Game Spot reported.

As explained by the studio through a recent blog post, the launch of the game has been delayed in order to give its developers enough time to improve certain features of the latest installment in the "Rainbow Six" series.

During the course of its development, Ubisoft has been holding tests and demos for "Rainbow Six: Siege" with the help of selected participants. Following the tests, the studio learned through feedback from gamers that the game still needs a few improvements in certain areas.

As noted by the studio, the developers will take the extra time to adjust the game's co-op system as well as make some balancing improvements to the featured weapons and gadgets.

"This wasn't an easy decision, but based on the feedback we've received, and based on our own internal tests, we felt there are adjustments and improvements we can make, including improving the co-op experience across all game modes, weapon and gadget balancing, as well as menu and interface navigation," Ubisoft wrote.

"We're taking a little more time to make these changes, and we think it's the right call," the studio added.

Despite the delay, the studio assured gamers that those who have pre-ordered the game will still be able to try it out through Ubisoft's closed beta test scheduled on Sept. 24. The feedback that will be collected during the upcoming event will also be used for the game's improvement.

As for the game's new release date, the company said the game will debut on Dec. 1. It will be available for the Microsoft Windows, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms.

Hype around Ubisoft's upcoming first-person shooter has been building up especially after company CEO Yves Guillemot made a special announcement in May during the studio's investor's call.

According to the executive, "Rainbow Six: Siege" could become Ubisoft's best-selling shooter game once it officially comes out. It could even surpass "Far Cry 4," the company's current top-selling title.

As noted by Gamerant, this is a bold statement made by Guillemot especially since previous "Rainbow Six" titles only sell an average of 3 million units. "Far Cry 4," on the other hand has already surpassed the 7 million mark ever since it came out in November of last year.
