Claire Danes was barely recognizable in Berlin as she was recently spotted filming a scene for ‘Homeland’ season five alongside co-star Mandy Patinkin. The Emmy Award-winning actress was seen wearing a brunette wig in the city's Mitte district on Friday.

Wearing her typical ensemble comprised of grey jeans and a matching jacket, Danes seemed to depict an ordinary citizen with a classic haircut and make-up free complexion, which was required of her onscreen character, Carrie Mathison.

Although plot details have been limited, the hit Showtime political drama series could be featuring an argument between Carrie and Saul (Patinkin), with the latter exiting the scene and calling for a cab.

‘Homeland’ season five will follow Carrie’s story in an entirely new city.

Estranged from the CIA, “Carrie is out of the intelligence business when the season starts and she finds herself in Berlin. It's a center for dissidence,” Gansa explained. “That's where hacktivists go because German privacy laws are so strict. It's hard to have surveillance on people there."

As a means of giving the award-winning series a rebirth that is much needed since the fourth season was unveiled, the show's central character decides to live in seclusion in Berlin, Germany. As pointed out by producer Alex Gansa, the new location is a "center for the surveillance refuseniks."

Carrie also crosses paths with German actor Alexander Fehling, who will play her love interest.

Widely known for his role in Quentin Tarantino's ‘Inglorious Basterds,’ Fehling takes on the role of Jonas Happich, a lawyer dating the former CIA agent.

Also signing on to the cast for the upcoming season is ‘Lord of The Rings’ actress Miranda Otto, who portrays CIA's current Berlin Chief of Station, directly working under Saul.

Meanwhile, Carrie's other tasks will include trying to take the helm in the uptight relations between the U.S. and Vladimir Putin's Russia.

For the first time in ‘Homeland’ history, viewers will get to have a glimpse of the former CIA agent in an entirely domestic role with radically different obligations at home and at work.

Although there had not been an announcement on 'Homeland' being renewed for season six, Nevins shared his sentiments about the upcoming season, saying that he thinks the fifth installment will feel "fresh" and that he expects it will stay put on Showtime "for many years to come."

Showtime’s ‘Homeland’ season five is set for an official premiere on Oct. 4.
