A new video leaked through YouTube revealed that Sony's Xperia Z4v will be released exclusively through Verizon on September 3.

The handset can be purchased for $599 but the telecom company will offer discount deals for owners of the device's predecessor.

According to Engadget, Sony first released the Xperia Z4v as the Xperia Z4 in Japan in April of this year. It then made its way to the European market as the Xperia Z3+.

Then, in June, Sony announced that it will bring the smartphone model through the U.S. with the name Xperia Z4v. The Japanese tech firm noted that it has partnered with Verizon for the device's U.S. release.

Since then, only rumors about the device's launch emerged. But then, the Xperia Blog reported earlier this week that Verizon has discontinued its support for the Xperia Z3v, which indicated that to company is preparing for the arrival of a new model.

In a video from YouTube user Total Tech, who was able to get his hands on the device, the Xperia Z4v will be available starting on September 3.

It will have a price tag of $599.99 but owners of the discontinued device, the Xperia Z3v, can trade in their handset to receive a discount of $220. This will cut down the price of the upcoming Xperia handset to $379.99.

As another option, those who do now want to give up their Xperia Z3v devices will still receive a $70 discount for the Xperia Z4v, according to Phone Arena.

In terms of its specs, the Xperia Z4v features a 5.2-inch LCD display with a screen resolution of 1440x2560 pixels. It houses a 20.7-megapixel main camera paired with a 5-megapixel front shooter. The device packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.

The Xperia Z4v runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop and has an IP68 certification. This rating suggests that the handset is waterproof and can survive being submerged in three meters of water.

Powering the device is a Snapdragon 810 chipset from Qualcomm. This may be a deal-breaker for some users due to overheating issues.

Earlier in July, it was reported that the Xperia Z4v's Japanese and European counterparts had temperature-related problems. Although it was not confirmed that the Snapdragon 810 was the cause, this chip model already has a history of causing devices to overheat.

As a solution, Sony released a firmware update for the Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z4 to eliminate the overheating problems, GSM Arena has learned. It is not yet clear if Verizon's Xperia Z4v also comes with the same software update.
