After the ‘Game of Thrones’ season five finale left viewers wondering if Jon Snow is really dead or if Sansa Stark and Theon Greyjoy will make it to The Wall, it has also become a big question whether Arya Stark will be blind for the rest of the upcoming season.
Social media seems to point out that the younger Stark daughter will indeed be blind for a while after actress Maisie Williams took to Instagram and posted a photo of herself lying in bed sporting cooling pads under her eyes.
"Aftermath of blind contacts," she wrote, before uploading a clip of her eyes after filming with contact lenses.
Williams’ character was last seen in the season five finale, when she appeared to be blinded by Jaqen H'ghar as punishment for breaking the rules of The House of Black and White when she sought her revenge and killed Ser Meryn Trant, after he murdered sword master Syrio in the first season.
Readers of George R.R. Martin's ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ book series on which the hit HBO series is based have already expected Arya to lose her sight. However, the 18-year-old star has ended the different speculations about what showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss will do with her character.
Williams recently opened up about the uncomfortable experience of wearing contacts.
"I don't want to wear these crazy contacts for the rest of my time on Thrones," she told Entertainment Weekly in June.
"I don't know how that will impede [Arya's] life. She's going to become very vulnerable thanks to that. It's exciting and scary so I'm worried about next year,” Williams added.
‘Game of Thrones’ season six is set to premiere in April 2016, although an official date is yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, Williams is set to appear next on another hit series as she guest stars on the upcoming season of ‘Doctor Who.’
BBC has just released the latest ‘Doctor Who’ season nine trailer, offering a special glimpse at the upcoming episodes, including Williams’ appearance. However, executive producer Steven Moffatt has been silent about the character that the ‘Game of Thrones’ star will be playing, particularly her role in the fifth episode titled ‘The Girl Who Died.’
‘Doctor Who’ returns to the screen for its ninth season on Sept. 19.
