Starting this week, Sony will give PlayStation Plus subscribers a chance to pick one of the game that will be offered for free in next month's lineup.
Through the subscription service's Vote to Play, members will be able to control which game they would like to see in September's PlayStation Plus game giveaway program.
According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, the games that subscribers can choose from include "Armello," "Zombie Kings" and "Grow Home."
The first game is a fairy tale-based title that features a combination of tactical card play, RPG and tabletop strategy game play elements. "Zombie Kings," on the other hand, is a four-player fantasy game.
Lastly, "Grow Home" form Ubisoft follows the story of a robot on a mission to save its planet. The game features an open-world setting filled with various types of terrain.
Voting will begin on August 13 and will last for 11 days. It is scheduled to end on August 24 at 8:30 a.m. PT.
To cast votes, gamers must be an active member of Sony's PlayStation Plus. They can then pick which game they would like to see next month by heading over to the PlayStation Store's PlayStation Plus section. From there, they'll be able to see the lineup of games that they can vote for.
Or, they can simply log on to PS4 using their PlayStation Network account and open Vote to Play under the What's New section, Kotaku has learned.
Gamers will only be allowed to vote for one game. The title that receives the most number of votes will be automatically be included in the lineup of free games that will be offered by PlayStation Plus in September.
Chris Howe, an executive for Sony Entertainment Europe, clarified through the regions' PlayStation Blog that vote to play will not be offered as a monthly program.
"To be clear, Vote to Play will not be a monthly feature, but will take place at regular intervals throughout the year," he wrote. "We're really excited to launch this new exclusive feature and we hope you enjoy it."
The executive, however, did not mention which months the Vote to Play program will be featured. But according to John Koller of Sony Computer Entertainment America, the voting program is only one of the new events that Sony will unveil. Other new services and features for the PlayStation brand will be announced in the near future, Polygon reported.
