Publisher 2K Sports has recently released the first gameplay trailer for the upcoming "NBA 2K16" game.

The clip, which was narrated by director Spike Lee, featured the story of NBA superstar Stephen Curry, Gamespot reported.

Curry, the current point guard for the Golden State Warriors, is one of the three cover athletes for the latest installment in the "NBA 2K" series. The other two are Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans and James Harden of the Houston Rockets.

The trailer released by 2K Sports featured Curry's in-game footages mixed with clips from the athlete's actual life moments. Titled as "Beyond the Shadows," the minute-long video focused on how Curry overcame various obstacles in his life to become one of the most celebrated athletes in the NBA franchise today.

Since Curry is one of the game's cover athletes, similarly-themed trailers for Harden and Davis are also expected to come out within the next few days.

The trailer for Curry included a narration by Lee, who was drafted by 2K Sports and development studio Visual Concepts to oversee the game's MyCareer mode.

According to the award-winning director, the new "NBA 2K" game will carry a storyline that is focused on the real-life experiences of professional basketball players and young athletes struggling to achieve their dreams.

In addition, as shown in the trailer, "NBA 2K16" has an ESRB rating of E10+. This is the first time in the history of the series that an "NBA 2K" game received a high rating since previous installments only got an E, Polygon reported.

As stated in the rating's description, the game will contain mild language, alcohol and violence references and mild suggestive themes. According to the gaming site, the E10+ rating might have been cause by the game's soundtrack, which features music from various artists such as Nas, DJ Khaled, The Ramones and Wiz Khalifa.

But, the rating could also be attributed to Lee's involvement since the director said the game's narrative will take on a grittier and more realistic approach than previous titles from the series.

"NBA 2K16" is scheduled to come out on September 29 and will be available for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows platforms.

Those who pre-order the game at authorized retailers will be able to play it as early as September 25. They will also receive in-bonuses such as 10,000 virtual currency and the MyTeam VIP package.
