After the big news of her engagement, Amy Duggar initially planned for a less conventional wedding day. The bride-to-be has opened up about originally preferring her marriage ceremony with Dillon King to be in a courthouse.
On the contrary, her uncle, ‘19 Kids and Counting’ patriarch Jim Bob Duggar, and her mother Deanna Duggar had other plans for the nuptials.
“Uncle Jim Bob is more traditional than I am and he was just like, ‘Now, Amy, a wedding is all about family and friends and coming together,” Amy said in an interview with Us Weekly. “I’m an only child so my mom [Deanna] was like, 'You have to have a wedding. I have to cry at your wedding. It’s a thing!'”
However, Amy has proven that she is less traditional and conservative as her Duggar cousins. Her wedding registry included a number of more luxuriant items, such as Kate Spade kitchenware and Ralph Lauren bedding, as reported by People.
Amy, along with her friends and family, is set to enjoy ample opportunities for gift-giving due to the fact that Jim Bob’s niece will be having not one but three bridal showers.
Despite differences in taste, Amy asked her cousins for pieces of advice when it comes to wedding celebrations.
She recently revealed that she had conversations with Jill Duggar about her special day but did not divulge details about what her cousin shared. The two had to use FaceTime as Jill is currently on a mission trip in Central America with her husband Derick Dillard and two-month-old son, Israel.
As Amy and Dillon will exchange wedding vows on Sept. 6, viewers of ‘19 Kids and Counting’ will not get the chance to have a glimpse of the Duggar family cousin getting married due to the show’s cancellation.
“TLC [called] us yesterday stating they have decided that they will not be filming our wedding and they are ‘glad they got to work with us,’” King supposedly wrote in an Instagram post that was subsequently deleted, as reported by Radar Online. “So, Amy and myself apologize that we will not be able to share our special day with you all on the TLC network.”
Looking at their recent posts, Amy and Dillon could still help their fans in having a look at their wedding ceremony using social media. The couple has been posting numerous personal engagement and wedding shower pictures on Instagram and Twitter, and has recently come up with a YouTube channel.
