Fresh details on the ‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 premiere episode have graced the headlines and it seems that the installment’s first episode will be action-packed and will immediately jump onto major mayhem.
‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 premiere director Greg Nictotero recently opened up to Entertainment Weekly and revealed that the first episode will begin in the midst of a big action sequence.
Subsequently, this will compel audiences to piece the puzzle together as the plot jumps around in one way or another.
According to series lead star Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, the first episode of season six will definitely be a surprise to fans.
"I think that episode 1 is something that people are not going to expect," Lincoln said to EW. "I certainly didn't when I read it. And when we filmed it, it just grew and grew and it got deeper and deeper."
The actor also dropped hints about future episodes, saying, "...And I think there are a couple of episodes this season that are certainly some of the best episodes I've read, maybe in a couple of seasons."
In addition, the 41-year-old actor had positive words for showrunner Scott M Gimple's vision, praising his approach to effective storytelling.
"There are more walkers than we've ever faced before. I think the storytelling is astonishing,” Lincoln shared. “Scott has kind of picked up very much where we left off and he's spinning 18 principal storylines in an incredibly complicated and cool way."
Meanwhile, ‘The Walking Dead’ season six will be made more exciting with the introduction of new characters, including the possible debut of a highly-anticipated villain.
Gimple previously announced that Emmy award-winning actress Merritt Wever from ‘Nurse Jackie’ will be taking on the role of Dr. Denise Cloyd, a character from the “Walking Dead” comic books who pitches in to mend some very wounded people in the Alexandria community.
Meanwhile, TV veteran Ethan Embry from ‘Grace and Frankie’ is set to play a supposedly complicated character known as ‘Carter.’
Corey Hawkins, who was first to be announced as the newest cast member of the series and will also star in Universal’s NWA biopic ‘Straight Outta Compton,’ will play Heath, Alexandria’s supply runner who develops a romantic interest in Dr. Cloyd.
As for a new villain, Gimple drops hints of Negan coming true to life, mentioning the possibility of his appearance in the sixth season. The notorious villain, whose storyline is a major one, could be introduced by the end of the next season.
‘The Walking Dead’ season six is set to make its official premiere on Oct. 11 with a special 90-minute episode.
