Samsung has once again promised to release the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its Galaxy Note 3 Neo device.
News about the firmware upgrade's arrival for the company's phablet first emerged in March of this year but until now, users are still waiting to get the update.
A couple of days ago, a user from the U.K. asked Samsung when the update will arrive for the Galaxy Note 3 Neo. The U.K. division of the company replied that the phablet model will get the upgrade. However, the Samsung U.K. did not specify exactly when the update will arrive.
"We can confirm that the Note 3 Neo will be moving to Lollipop," the company tweeted. "Have you tried manually looking for updates?
Based on the company's response, the update will definitely be rolled out to users living in the U.K., Phone Arena reported. There is still no confirmation yet if those in other regions will receive the firmware upgrade.
But, in March of this year, Samsung France issued a similar announcement via Twitter. According to the company, the Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Galaxy Note 3 Neo will arrive in 2015, NDTV has learned. However, like Samsung U.K., the company also did not issue an exact date for the update's arrival.
Although version 5.0 can already be considered as a bit outdated since the company has been rolling out Android 5.1 Lollipop for various devices, the upgrade will be a major update for the Galaxy Note 3 Neo.
When the phablet first came out in February, 2014, it came with the Android 4.4 KitKat as its stock operating system. Ever since its release, the device had never received a firmware upgrade.
Being the first Lollipop platform, update 5.0 will bring new enhancements to the Galaxy Note 5 Neo. For one, through the firmware's Material Design, update comes with improved animations and other themes.
It also features a new notifications system, better battery life management and a variety of additional control options.
Hopefully, Samsung will announce the official date or period of the update's roll out with the next few weeks.
The Galaxy Note 3 Neo was marketed by Samsung as the budget-friendly version of its former flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 3.
It features a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. The device's LTE and 3G versions are powered by Samsung's Exynos 5 Hexa 5260 chipset. The dual SIM variant and the South Korean model, on the other hand, respectively came with the Snapdragon 400 and Snapdragon 800.
The device packs 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 64GB though a microSD card. It features an 8-megapixel rear camera paired with a 2-megapixel selfie snapper.
