With Showtime unveiling the official trailer and revealing the premiere date for ‘Homeland’ season five, the latest behind-the-set video sheds light on the upcoming season’s cast and crew with which one of the scenes shows Carrie Mathison carrying Peter Quinn, who seems to be left hurt and injured.
In the video, Carrie tells the bruised Quinn, “Come on, stay with me," which could possibly drop hints about the couple's reunion in season five.
The fourth season of ‘Homeland’ offered a rather upsetting ending for the characters of Claire Danes and Rupert Friend.
The finale episode showed Carrie seeking comfort in Quinn after her father's death. The pair also shared their first kiss after which, Carrie had second thoughts about right away. She also opened up to Quinn, saying that she knows she will only make things more complicated as they are.
"I've seen you at your worst. You want out too, We get out together,” Quinn assures her.
After going their separate ways, Quinn feels let down and goes on a suicide mission while Carrie copes with her own personal issues as her mother comes back to her life after two decades of missing out.
Danes’ character will also cross paths with a new love interest, Jonas Happich, who will be portrayed by Alexander Fehling. Working as a legal counsel for the Düring Foundation, Happich will be seen having dates with Carrie.
Therefore, it remains a big question for fans whether the former CIA station chief will get back together with the black-ops agent in season five.
In an interview with Deadline, Friend previously discussed his character’s possibilities with Carrie, saying: "We're not given a season outline or anything. It's done very much blow-by-blow."
When asked about his character’s short-lived romance with Carrie at the end of last season, the 33-year-old actor shared, "I think it was very interesting to see this so-called tough guy – who we've seen be violent, and who has deep anger management issues and is very thick-skinned in many ways – open himself in any way to anybody, even the tiniest bit, and be even mildly rejected."
Meanwhile, showrunner Alex Gansa also discussed the team’s approach in retaining the momentum in season five by adding new actors to the cast as well as incorporating changes into production and storyline, shedding more light on the events in Berlin.
"This story is current," the co-creator said of the new season. "With all of the stuff that's going on just south of Berlin in the Middle East and to the east in Russia and Ukraine, it's fascinating.”
When asked about plot details and the chances for ‘Homeland’ to return to the U.S., the screenwriter explained that it would be possible to do so if the series is to be renewed for several more seasons.
"Claire and Hugh [Dancy] have a baby, Cyrus, and there's going to come a point in the next year or two when she's going to want to be home," Gansa shared. "Cyrus is going to have to go to kindergarten. Fingers crossed, if the series goes that long, we're definitely going to be back in the United States eventually."
