British singer Zayn Malik thinks that One Direction’s new song “Drag Me Down” is great. Malik tweeted his response to Thursday’s song release on Saturday, Aug. 1.
“Proud of my boys the new single is sick. Big love. :) x,” tweeted Malik on Saturday.
“Drag Me Down” is the British boy band’s first song release since Malik quit the band in March. Malik, who has since signed a contract with RCA Records tweeted that he wants to show fans who he really is.
“I guess I never explained why I left , it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who i really am! #realmusic #RCA !!” tweeted Zayn on Wednesday, July 29.
It was a surprise to fans when the band dropped the single late Thursday night. The song was initially expected to drop on Aug. 7.
The track features only four members, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson. The young men promoted the song on social media through tweets and video recordings.
One Direction plans to perform “Drag Me Down” live in New York City on ‘Good Morning America,’ as a part of a summer concert series on Aug. 4. Fans can attain tickets to the event on the GMA website.
